Relative cell references

In Excel and other spreadsheets, a relative cell reference identifies the location of a cell or group of cells.

Operand

In Excel an operands are the objects that are manipulated. For example 5+x, 5 and x are the operands.

Mixed cell reference

In Excel cell references are used in formulas, functions, charts, and other Excel commands.
Cell references consist of a column letter and the row number that intersect at the cell's location in a spreadsheet such as D2 or AZ234.

Mathematical functions

A function is a preset formula in Excel. Like formulas, functions begin with the equal sign ( = ) followed by the function's name and its arguments. The function name tells Excel what calculation to perform. The arguments are contained inside round brackets.

Formulas

A formula in a spreadsheet, such as Excel, is a mathematical equation used to caluculate a value. In Excel formulas must begin with an equal ( = ) sign.

Embedded chart

An embedded chart is a chart that is drawn on the same worksheet as the data

Chart

A graph, or a chart as it is known in Excel, is a visual representation of worksheet data.
A chart is based on a selection or range of related data. A chart often makes it easier to understand the data in a worksheet.

Argument

In Excel, arguments are used in functions. They are the part of the function enclosed in round brackets (parentheses) following the function’s name. Arguments supply the data for the function to use in its calculations. In Excel, arguments are most likely to be cell references.

Absolute cell reference

Absolute cell reference identifies the location a cell or group of cells. Cell references are used in formulas, functions, charts, and other Excel commands.
